In the countryside of Castellana Grotte, among the warm colours of Valle D’Itria, we gave new life to a complex of trulli, mixing up tradition and innovation. When we start a similar project, we are driven by the connection with our land, looking for inspiration in the history and past of these places that once were home and they want to be still, for whoever is looking for authenticity and beauty in Puglia. Four trulli and a century-old olive tree on top of the courtyard: we started from here to combine two souls, the old and the new, the past and the present.
While renovating a trullo, a careful valuation of the structure conditions is needed: sometimes a complete renovation is necessary, sometimes just some maintenance interventions could be enough. Lab36 Architecture Studio, in collaboration with M+T Architects, respected every element of culture and tradition of Puglia, re-interpreting with a contemporary point of view. Together, we innovate preserving the integrity, keeping trulli original features and its rustic nature. We added an extension with a modern design and a lighting system aimed at enhancing every detail, we chose to make the Resolana trulli a place far from the frenzy and close to the present time: the colours, the shades of white stone, the olive and cherry trees all around represent the frame of our vision.
A story that goes back to XVI century and that from July 2020 has something new to tell: Puglia is everywhere, Puglia in the white lime of the external environments, in the color of the red earth, in the blue sky and in the twisted trunks of the ancient olive trees. The four cones of the trulli hold a large entrance, a bedroom with private bathroom and an "alcove" with two single beds. Continuing, a corridor leads to the modern structure, with a living area and living room, kitchen and service bathroom. Separated from the main complex, there is an independent stone tower on two levels, consisting of an entrance and double bedroom. A welcoming atmosphere in the internal and external spaces, to experience new stories while feeling at home.
